SWAN LAKE: A Visceral Love Story

Showing at Danny’s Main Stage, Act2PV

Embark on a groundbreaking journey through love, war, and transformation as former Joffrey Ballet member, James Wolburg, and choreographer, Alonso Vásquez, present a modern reimagining of the classic Swan Lake, featuring an all-male cast, and celebrating LGBTQ+ themes. With Wolburg’s dual role as director and lead performer, alongside Vásquez’s visionary choreography, audiences are invited to witness a mesmerizing fusion of traditional elegance and contemporary storytelling, woven with themes of love, identity, and acceptance.

Wolburg takes on the monumental challenge of portraying the iconic “Swan King,” showcasing his versatility as a dancer by embodying two roles – the tender, soft, and sensitive Obed (White Swan) and the evil, dark, and sensual Odile (Black Swan) – within the same role. His portrayal promises to captivate audiences with its depth and complexity, offering a unique perspective on this beloved character.

Set against the tumultuous backdrop of World War II, Swan Lake unfolds as a poignant tale of forbidden love and perilous escape, challenging societal norms and embracing the power of authenticity and love in all its forms. Through mesmerizing dance sequences and a gripping narrative, Swan Lake invites audiences to immerse themselves in a world of passion, betrayal, and redemption, while celebrating the resilience and beauty of the LGBTQ+ community. Don’t miss your chance to witness this groundbreaking production live on stage. Secure your tickets now and prepare to be swept away by the beauty and drama of Swan Lake: A Visceral Love Story.

Review by Crist P. Thomas:
“To all of my friends in Vallarta that see this post.

Trust me on this.
You must…MUST see “The Swan Lake” at Act2PV Theater.

I could use every superlative available and still not describe the glory of this ballet that I witnessed tonight on its triumphant and noble sold out opening night.

I  guarantee you will not see anything like it in Vallarta this season. And you are cheating yourself twice if you choose to not see it. Once for not witnessing the majesty of this work of art in person and again for depriving yourself of not being able to recall from your memory the satisfaction of seeing and hearing this monumental classic.

It’s pure magic.”
